IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force), which meets three times a
year.
The most prominent of its current projects is the transition to
IPng
(also known as IPv6), the next generation of the Internet Protocol.
The Energy Sciences Network provides wide-area
internet connectivity at Fermilab. Their server also provides a wide variety
of technical documentation.
The NIST (National Institute for Standards and technology) maintains
information relating to
FIPS, GOSIP, the FIRP, and so on.
